Five Simple Tips for Cutting Wedding Costs

1. Wedding Dress

Wedding gowns are an extravagant purchase at a matching price. Look around at sample sales, bridesmaid or deb dresses and off the rack options. These can be tailored if need be at a comparatively small fee.  For sentimental sake you could wear your mother’s dress or consider something completely different. Gone are the days when brides need to wear white. Choose a dress or even pants that suit you and your style. Red, pink and black (any color really) are definitely in.

2. Wedding Reception

Consider a morning ceremonywith a breakfast buffet. Waffles, mimosas, pancakes and an alternative wedding cake will make the wedding memorable and a whole lot less expensive. You will also save on venue costs, catering and hopefully alcohol. Mid week bookings are often much cheaper than weekends as well.

3. Alcohol

It’s ideal if you can BYO. You can remove labels and personalise to your own colors/theme.

Alternatively, never leave alcohol on the tables. Ask the venue if you can have a poured service. This will save about 25% due to lack of wastage.

4. Make up

Consider hiring a student who is studying in a relevant course. They will get some practise and most likely go out of their way to do a good job at a cheaper rate.

5. Music

Consider hiring a music teacher or music student/band. Like all these tips make sure you check out the services first and that they meet your standards.
